Pediatric Dentistry

One of the best things you can do for your children is to help them establish a routine of proper oral health care. The practices you introduce to them now can dramatically increase the odds of them enjoying a lifetime of excellent dental health. Children learn by example, and it is helpful if you make and keep routine dental appointments for yourself, so that dental visits become second nature to your children.

Drs. Hilton and Marcincin love treating children of all ages, and the professional team at our Dillon dental office makes sure that your kids receive high-quality dental care in a fun and safe environment. We do not want them to develop a fear of dentists, and our team will do everything possible to ensure that your child’s visits to our office are always enjoyable.

The First Visit

The first visit to our Dillon dental office should be scheduled as soon as the baby teeth start to appear. At this early age, the purpose of a trip to the dentist is for us to become acquainted with your child and to allow them to become familiar with us and the surroundings. We find that the best way to handle this important first visit is to have the child sit on mom or dad’s lap while the parent visits with the dentist.

Once your child reaches the age of two or three, we will set up a separate appointment for them. The purpose of this first “official” visit is to get them accustomed to a routine of pleasant experiences with Drs. Hilton and Marcincin and our team. The sooner your child has their first appointment, the better. We don’t want them to associate a visit to the dentist with pain, so it’s best if we see them before a problem develops.

Preventive Services and Treatments

Your child’s early dental care includes regular exams with Drs. Hilton and Marcincin so we can begin to develop a history for future treatment. Baby teeth are very important because they act as placeholders for proper development of permanent teeth. If we detect a cavity in a baby tooth, we need to fill it to preserve the tooth and your child’s long-term oral health. In addition to dental exams and fillings, we offer a variety of preventive services like sealants and fluoride treatments to help get your kids’ oral health off to an excellent start.
